Among the 7 Year 1 Science and Technology courses, students MUST take the following 2 Year 1 Science and Technology Mandatory courses in semester 1:

Also, students have to take 3 out of the following 5 Year 1 Science and Technology Elective courses in semester 2:

In semester 1 of Year 1, all students of Bachelor of Science (Hons) programme are pre-assigned to take SCIE1006 Big Data and Smart Technology and SCIE1007 Molecular Science in Daily Life.

In semester 2 of Year 1, all students are required to add 3 out of the following 5 Science and Technology Elective courses during the add/drop period in BUniPort by yourselves.

Both courses SCIE1006 Big Data and Smart Technology and SCIE1007 Molecular Science in Daily Life are offered in semester 1 only. Students are not suggested to drop these courses in semester 1.

Yes, you can apply for change of the section via BUniPort during the course add/drop period. Please submit the “Application for Adding a Course (for course which requires instructor’s approval only)” via BUniPort.

In order to fulfill the graduation requirement, you must take the 2 Year 1 Science and Technology mandatory courses:

You are required to take certain Year 1 Science and Technology courses in Year 1 of study in order to be eligible for admission to the relevant programme. Please refer to the criteria for major programme assignment for details.

Please follow procedures below:

• Step 1: Please prepare a draft study plan by filling in the study plan form.
• Step 2: Meet your Academic Advisor and seek his/her advice on your draft study plan. After your study plan is confirmed, email it in soft copy to fst@hkbu.edu.hk.
• Step 3: The Faculty will review your study plan and endorse it. If a meeting for further discussion on the study plan is needed, the Faculty will contact you.
• Step 4: After the study plan is endorsed, the Faculty will email it in softcopy to you.
• Step 5: Please submit the endorsed study plan to the Undergraduate Studies Section of AR by yourself.
