Science Entrance Scholarship

• Objective

  • To recognize outstanding candidates admitted to the Bachelor of Science programme (JUPAS Catalogue No.: JS2510) offered by the Faculty of Science via JUPAS, whose HKDSE results in one sitting satisfy the awarding criteria.

• Eligibility and Award

  1. Students must select Bachelor of Science (JUPAS code: JS2510) in BAND A.
  2. Students attained 5* or above in one science related subject¹and attained an Admission Score² of 23 or above in HKDSE will have tuition fee waived for Year 1 study³.
  3. Students attained 5** in one science related subject¹ in HKDSE will have tuition fee waived for Year 1 study³.
  4. Students attained 5** in two science related subjects¹ in HKDSE will have tuition fee waived for both Year 1 and Year 2 studies. Students are required to maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average (cGPA) of 3.0 or above by the end of Year 1 in order to receive the scholarship for Year 2⁴.

Upon admission to major programme in Year 2, programme Admission Scholarship opportunities will also be available for students of all major programmes.

1. Science related subjects in HKDSE include:
   Mathematics (Compulsory Part); Biology; Chemistry; Physics; Integrated Science; Combined Science; and Information and Communication Technology.
2. Admission Scores are composed of HKDSE 4 Core subjects and 1 best NSS elective subjects (i.e. HKDSE Category A Subjects). Maximum Score = 35, Minimum Score = 12, the higher the better. (HKDSE NSS Subject Level/Point system: 5**=7, 5*=6, 5=5, 4=4, 3=3, 2=2, 1=1)
3. Students who also meet the requirements of the HKBU Admission Scholarship Scheme for Outstanding Local Students will be awarded the HKBU Admission Scholarship in his/her Year 1 study. The Science Entrance Scholarship will be awarded in his/her Year 2 study, subject to the fulfillment of cGPA requirement of 3.0 or above by the end of Year 1.
4. Students who also meet the requirements of the HKBU Admission Scholarship Scheme for Outstanding Local Students will be awarded the HKBU Admission Scholarship in his/her Year 1 study. The Science Entrance Scholarship will be awarded in his/her Year 2 and Year 3 studies, subject to the fulfillment of cGPA requirement of 3.0 or above by the end of Year 1 and Year 2 respectively.

Hall Scholarship Scheme

• Objective

  • To recognize local students with good academic performance admitted to our science degree programmes.

• Award

  • Awardees will be granted 1-year hall residence for free.

• Eligibility

  • Students with outstanding academic performance admitted to our Faculty of Science.
  • Candidates must select Bachelor of Science (JUPAS code: JS2510) in BAND A.
  • Pass the interview.
